Please see the following document for details about leadership positions:
leadership_roles.docx (from the handbook) I will let you know how much of the work to play, you will not be expected to play the entire piece. What I am looking for is your method for learning a challenging piece, musicality, sound quality, and technique. The audition will consist of two parts: a playing portion this spring and then in the fall an observation of each person running a part of rehearsal. I am watching everything to make note of consistency. The anticipated date for the playing audition is the 3rd of May. Students have two (2) options for the audition. There will be more ensembles when we begin rehearsals this Fall Semester. 1. You can audition for either the Chamber or Philharmonic Orchestras. 2. No audition - if you choose not to audition, then you will be placed in the Sinfonia Orchestra, which is a non-auditioned orchestra. Audition option Orchestra members are to submit a video audition so administration can register each student for their elective at South Cobb High School. This will also help me place each member in the correct class. Auditions for the upcoming school year will be virtual. Students will submit videos via YouTube by February 26th, 2021. You should merge the files so it is in one video. Make sure it is UNLISTED; if it is private I will not have access. Auditions include scales with arpeggios and an excerpt (listed below). You will not be able to submit a video later than that because administration will expect the results and names by then and I must have time to review the videos. Video Requirements 1. Space that is free of distractions (i.e. sounds other than your performance) 2. Video must include a full view of you playing; don’t forget to include you bow hand during bowing changes. View should include all of your instrument as well. 3. You will record and upload your audition to YouTube. Students will build their technique working towards mastery of three-octave scales, upper positions, vibrato, tone, and intonation. Performs Level III and IV music in concerts. sinfonia.pdf Philharmonic is our largest orchestra that will give less experienced musicians a chance to play with advanced performers. This will also be the ensemble that will perform with students in band classes to play full orchestra works. All students in the South Cobb Orchestra program will perform with this group as a mass ensemble. philharmonic.pdf (potentially 2 sections) Chamber II is open for any student by audition in the spring of each year. Students will build their technique working towards mastery of three-octave scales, upper positions, vibrato, tone, and intonation. Performs Level IV and V music in concerts. Private lessons are strongly recommended.
